So I have my idea and I ordered my trailer – next step… put it on the computer. I used a free software program called Sketchup to turn my 2d doodles into a 3d representation. It’s fairly sketchy (hence the name of the program) but it gives a good idea of what my tiny house could look and feel like, both inside and out. I’ll save the design talk for another post, but in the meantime take a look at the possibility.
You may have noticed that there are two people represented in my tiny model…I’m sure you can figure out which one is me (even though the hair is not quite red or long enough), but who is that man? Well long story short – he’s with me. Let me explain. I started this tiny journey while single and then last spring I started dating again. I met a wonderful man who spoils me with kindness – he is sweet and goofy, with an amazingly diverse appreciation of music (polka anyone?), he is an imperfect perfectionist who is continually learning and growing and choosing who he wants to be and how he wants to live. He learned very early on (it may have even been in my OK cupid profile) that I was into this tiny house thing, and while it’s not a lifestyle he had really given much thought to, he is of like mind when it comes to possessions and choosing experiences over things. While in the design phase, I decided that if there was a possibility that he may end up living tiny with me at some point, I should probably make sure that he will fit – all 6′-6″ of him. He has been nothing but supportive and genuinely interested in my tiny house progress and is looking forward to the prospect of trying it on for size.
You never know where life is going to take you – enjoy the journey! I certainly am.
