LEARNING – quiet in a treehouse

I’m up at my grandparent’s house getting ready to go on another trip with Child Haven International to the children’s homes in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Prior to the big trip (we leave tomorrow) I spent a few moments of solitude and quiet in the tiny little treehouse in their yard.

It was cool and peaceful in the shade. I could let my mind wander and reflect on the past few months, piecing together thoughts and ideas for blog posts. I could sit and anticipate my next journey, seeing the familiar faces of the sweet little children; sitting for endless hours on planes, and trains, and automobiles; reconnecting with dear friends; and spending more quality time with my grandmother.

I’ve been here in Canada for nearly a week now. This past Sunday we celebrated my grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary, their Diamond Jubilee. It was a wonderful celebration, full of family and friends, and lots and lots of food. They launched the Diamond Jubilee Endowment Fund for Child Haven International and the CBC Ottawa news crew came out for a short segment. Follow this link to view the clip. It’s quite good. I wrote a post for the Child Haven Blog here that details the event and the Endowment Fund. Take a look.

If you would like to contribute to this wonderful cause, you can do so here. I’m planning my own Diamond Jubilee Endowment Fund fundraiser in the fall, I will tell you all about it when the time comes.

Thanks for reading!
