EXPLORING – strolling seattle

Oh Seattle, how I love thee. Let me count the ways. I love your coffee. I love your sunny days. I love your eclectic neighborhoods, your food trucks, and your farmers markets. I love your spring flowers and fresh green buds. But most of all, I love to stroll your streets.

Today is the first day in a couple weeks where the sun is actually out and shining, drying up the rain, warming up our winter blues. It’s definitely spring here, the crazy weather is a sure sign. Yesterday it hailed for what seemed like 15 minutes. It was probably more like 5 minutes, but man was it a lot of hail. The house across the street looked like it got hit with a snow storm. But those tiny frozen pellets soon melted away with the onslaught of the torrential downpour that lasted the rest of the day. There were flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder and the sun was nowhere in sight.

Rain, rain, go away.

Rain, rain, go away.

Today is much nicer. The sky is blue, the birds are singing, and everyone and their grandmother are out and about soaking up the rays. I wandered down to Madison Valley and over to the Washington Park Arboretum for a nice long walk. But first – coffee. A Seattle Sunday cannot go well without a nice hot cup of joe to start the blood pumping.

The park was stunning. Just breathtakingly beautiful. And apart from the super muddy part of the path, the entire walk was delightful. No, wait, strike that – the walk back up the never ending hill wasn’t so awesome. There were some great views though.

That’s a pretty good way to spend a Sunday. Now I’ve got to go Barbecue something. It’s just one of those days.

I hope you are all enjoying your Sunday too! Have a good one.

Thanks for reading!

  1. I wish I had called you for a walk, because I was thinking the exact same thing today as I walked my two laps around Green Lake. We’ll have to do the Arboretum together some time. I’m glad you got out and took advantage of the sunshine!!! =)

    • Thanks Devra! That would have been great – granted, my walks are usually very impromptu, including this one. Green Lake would be nice sometime though, I haven’t done that in a long time. I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine this week! -Rene

  2. I am so jealous waiting for the nice weather to come so I can wear my sandals. Beautiful pics Rene.

    • Yes Cheryl, I hope the nice weather comes to visit you soon too. It was super wintry when I was there, I’m sure things must have warmed up a little. Thanks so much for the comment! -Rene

  3. Nothing beats fresh coffee, relaxing days off from work and enjoying the fresh air in nature.. Sounds like you had a lovely day!!

    • I did have a lovely day! It was so nice to get out and stretch my legs and fill my lungs with that crisp fresh spring air. I hope you are also enjoying all the niceties that spring has to offer. Thanks for stopping by Lynne. -Rene

  4. You’re getting closer to Williams Lake, I have 8 pigs arriving on the 29th. They are calling your name :). And baby calves everywhere
And no weeding or cherry picking yet -lol

    • Pigs! They’re probably pretty cute when they first arrive, not bombarding you while you try to feed them and making you feel like they’re going chomp your toes off. And baby calves – cute! Wish I could make it up there visit you all again – miss you. -Rene
